Pay PrePaid Credit Cards, as part of Reward and Recognition, into your Bank Account

Do you get the option of a PrePaid Credit Card, as part of your Company's Reward and Recognition Program? Would you rather get that money into your Bank Account? Well, I got you Fam.

For this process, we'll use Stripe. The reason for this is that we can charge the exact amount remaining on the PrePaid Credit Card. Stripe also lets you just pay with the card without too much fuss. Unfortunately, Stripe takes about 2% as a transaction fee.

These cards don't work on other sites, like Coinbase or Revolut. Paypal is using their Account Structure. So these make it hard to spend the money, or to get access to the full amount, if you have dust remaining on the card.

1. Set up a Stripe Account

This is relatively straight forward. There are some key steps as part of this process. Link your bank account to your Stripe, to make it possible to pay the money to you.

There is a KYC (Know Your Customer) Process on Stripe. You must complete this process to enable the Payouts. It's standard across multiple sites that handle money. You must have your Passport, Driver's License or Government ID ready, or just keep a copy of it on your computer as an image file.

2. Create a Customer

From the Stripe Dashboard, go to Customers and Click New.
I used my personal e-mail for the Customer.
I just created the one Customer, as I only want to pay myself.
Don't add a Payment Method to their account.
For the Customer's Billing Address, enter the Address on the PrePaid Credit Card.

3. Create an Invoice

From the Stripe Dashboard, go to Billing and Invoices. Then Click New.
Select the Customer, yourself, with the e-mail address that the Invoice will be sent to.
For the Invoice Items, enter the amount remaining on the PrePaid Credit Card.
Send the Invoice to the Customer.

4. Pay the Invoice

In your e-mail, open the invoice and pay it with the PrePaid Credit Card.
Verify the payment in your Payments section of the Strip Dashboard.
The money should appear in your bank account, once the Payout Schedule is triggered.

    1. Hi, that is loosely covered in Step 1.
"Link your bank account to your Stripe, to make it possible to pay the money to you."

You can set your bank account on the Payouts screen, with the "Add bank account" button:

  2. Takes a week to get money from Stripe into bank account - does that sound right? Also a c.1.75% charge in Ireland when taking the stripe fee and VAT into account...
