Why do you want Lucky Trades?
For the level up requirement for Level 49, you need to:
- Obtain 50 Lucky Pokémon in trades.
They also re-roll the Pokémon's IVs and they get set to a minimum of 12.
Lucky Pokémon also cost less Stardust to power up.
Lucky Trade Details
A 20% chance of getting a Lucky Pokémon Trade is the maximum.
The calculation is based on the age, in years you've held the Pokémon in your storage, of both Pokémon in the trade.
So you can mix and match the tiers of Lucky Pokémon to get to the 20% cap.
The tiers are:
- Less than 1 year old: 5%
- 1 year old: 10%
- 2 years old: 15%
- 3+ years old: 20%
- From June/July 2016: 100%
So either trade two 1 year old Pokémon, 10% + 10%, to get the max 20% chance, or a 2 year old Pokémon and a less than one year old Pokémon to get 15% + 5%, to get the full 20% chance of a Lucky Trade.
Search Strings
Less than 1 year old: 5% Chance
age-365
1 year old: 10% Chance
age365-720
2 years old: 15% Chance
age720-1095
3+ years old: 20% Chance
age1095-
From June/July 2016: 100% Chance
This is if either of the Traders have less than 10 Lucky Pokémon, otherwise it's a 75% chance.
Just reverse sort your Pokémon by Recent. I only have a Snorlax that I hatched from an Egg outside a Luas (Tram) stop.
Pro Tip: You can combine these Search Strings, with the "Trade Evolution" tag from my other post: Search Strings for Pokémon GO Pokémon that Evolve when Traded.
So if you're looking to level up to Level 50, then start storing Pokémon that you want to trade. You'll need about 250 of them, due to the 20% chance.
I hope you get lucky trades,
Luke
